Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Tarc ("Tarc," "we," "us") — the web app at tarc.pro and the Tarc Android app. By using Tarc, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

Tarc is a free language-learning app currently offering courses in Arabic and Latvian, with lesson tracking, streaks, XP, gems, achievements, quests, and a leaderboard. Features may be added, changed, or removed over time.

2. Accounts

You can use Tarc without an account (guest mode), with progress stored only on your device. Creating an account (via Google or email sign-in) lets your progress sync across devices. You're responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method secure. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and may not impersonate another person.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Tarc for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that disrupts the service for other users.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Tarc's systems, other users' accounts, or data.
• Use bots, scripts, or automated means to farm XP, gems, or leaderboard position outside normal app use.
• Upload a profile photo, username, display name, or bio that is unlawful, harassing, or infringes someone else's rights.

Profile content (username, display name, bio, photo) may be visible to other users on the leaderboard and public profile pages if your profile is public — see the Privacy Policy for details. Tarc does not currently moderate user profile content; don't post anything you wouldn't want other users to see.

4. Virtual currency (gems) and purchases

Gems are a virtual currency earned by completing lessons and quests, redeemable only within Tarc's in-app shop for cosmetic items (frames, titles) and temporary XP boosts. Gems have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for real money, and are not a form of currency, security, or property. Tarc does not currently sell gems or any item for real money. If that changes in the future, these Terms will be updated accordingly.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of any content you upload (such as a profile photo or bio text). By uploading it, you grant Tarc a license to store and display it as part of the app's normal operation (e.g., showing your profile photo on your profile and the leaderboard).

6. Intellectual property

Tarc's course content, design, branding, and software are owned by Tarc or its licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from Tarc's course content or app without permission.

7. Termination

You may stop using Tarc at any time and may delete your account and data via Profile → Delete Account in the app (see the Privacy Policy, Section 9). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Tarc is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will achieve any particular learning outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tarc is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

9. Changes to these Terms

If we make material changes to these Terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Tarc after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
