Learn languages with Tarc

Tarc teaches Arabic and Latvian through the same core method: short daily lessons, spaced-repetition review, and streak-driven consistency. The method is language-agnostic — what changes between courses is the content (scripts, vocabulary, grammar), not the underlying learning system.

The method behind Tarc

Most people who quit a language app don't quit because the material was too hard — they quit because they stopped showing up. Tarc's daily-lesson structure, XP, and streaks exist specifically to make showing up the easy part. Underneath that layer, a spaced-repetition system tracks which words and rules you're likely to forget and brings them back for review at increasing intervals, timed just before you'd naturally lose them — which is measurably more efficient than reviewing everything on a fixed schedule regardless of how well you already know it.

Two languages, one system

Coming soon

Five more languages are on Tarc's roadmap. Courses aren't built yet, but each has a reference page covering the language itself, plus a way to get notified at launch.

Getting started

You can begin either course immediately in the Tarc app without creating an account — progress saves to your device from the first lesson. Creating a free account later lets that progress sync across devices. There's no paywall between you and the full course.

Frequently asked questions

How does Tarc's teaching method actually work?

Each day, Tarc gives you a short lesson — new material plus review of what you've already learned. Correct answers earn XP and gems; completing a lesson keeps your streak alive. A spaced-repetition system tracks which words and rules you're likely to forget and resurfaces them right before you would, rather than repeating everything on a fixed schedule.

Why does gamification help with learning a language?

Language learning fails most often not from difficulty but from people quitting before consistency builds real ability. Streaks, XP, and daily goals exist to make showing up every day easier than skipping it — the actual learning still comes from the lesson content and spaced repetition underneath.

Which language should I start with, Arabic or Latvian?

Pick based on your actual reason for learning — heritage, travel, work, or interest — rather than which is objectively "easier." They're structurally very different languages (a Semitic language with its own script vs. a case-based Baltic language written in the Latin alphabet), and Tarc's course design and spaced-repetition method apply the same way to both.

Can I learn a language for free with Tarc?

Yes. All lesson content, quizzes, streaks, XP, and gems are free. The optional in-app shop only sells cosmetic items and temporary boosts for gems earned in-app — there's no real-money purchase required to complete either course.
