Create an Account

Last updated 2026-07-09 1 min read

Creating a Tarc account lets your progress sync across devices, unlocks the global leaderboard and public profile, and backs up your data server-side.

Two ways to sign up

Tarc does not use traditional email-and-password sign-up. There is no password to set, and Apple Sign-In is not currently available.

Choosing a username

The first time you sign in, you'll be asked to choose a username (up to 20 characters). This is separate from your display name, which defaults to your username but can be changed later in your profile.

What happens to your Guest Mode progress

If you were using Guest Mode before signing up, your existing local progress — XP, streak, achievements, completed lessons — is merged into your new account automatically. You don't start over.

After signing up

Your account data (profile, progress, achievements) is stored via Tarc's backend (Supabase) and syncs across any device where you sign in with the same account — see Cloud Sync.

Frequently asked questions

Does Tarc support signing up with just an email and password?

No — Tarc uses Google sign-in or email-based one-time codes/magic links, with no password to create or remember.

Is Apple Sign-In available?

Not currently — Google and email are the two available sign-in methods.

Will I lose my Guest Mode progress if I create an account?

No — your existing guest progress is automatically merged into the new account during sign-up.

Can I change my username after signing up?

Your username is set at sign-up; your display name (shown by default as your username) can be edited afterward in your profile.
