Guest Mode is Tarc's default state on first launch — a fully-featured way to use the app without creating an account.
On first launch, the app generates a random local identifier (a UUID) stored only on your device. This identifier is not a credential and is never sent to Tarc's servers — it exists only to tag your local data and, later, to help merge it into an account if you create one.
Because guest progress lives only in your browser's or app's local storage, clearing that storage, uninstalling the app, or switching devices means the progress is not recoverable. This is the main reason to eventually create an account — it's the only way to back up and sync progress.
When you create an account while in Guest Mode, your local guest data (progress, achievements, streak) is merged into the new account automatically — you don't lose what you've already done.
